Bulk Trash Pick Up Day-- Kansas City

Saturday July 8, 2006
We at the Sharp household were lucky enough to have this beautious green chair dumped in our side yard by one of our wonderful neighbors this week. Yes, I'd love to keep it, but since it's missing essential office chair parts like a seat and a couple of wheels, it unfortunately must go in the trash. Oh wait, not any trash...it's gotta go in the Bulk Trash. It seems like everyone EVERYWHERE knows when, where and what time Bulk Trash Pickup Day is, but if you're like me, Bulk Trash Pickup Day is more of an urban legend and myth all rolled into one. Thankfully, the KCMO Public Works Website sorts out the mess of confusion of BTPD--just plug in your address and it will tell you what Zone you reside in, if you are an 'odd' or 'even' month pickup, and what day you can sit those bulky items out on the curb for pick up. Now if it would only send out a reminder a few days in advance....

I would curl up and die if it was not for bulk trash pick-up. I am continually up-grading my furniture finds, or the dog gets too crazy on the coach! Thank goodness for every-other-month.

I got a great chuckle from this article! And believe me, I can relate!!

By the way, thanks for the heavy trash address. That’s what I was looking for when I came onto your article.

The bulk trash pick-up should be changed back to every other month with out calling it in. The reason is that the call in system makes it less productive for recyclers. It the recyclers are taking less then the pick-up has to take more in the long run. The recycler instead of taking my old table has to go to walmrt and buy a new cheap fiberboard table that won,t last very long.

My name is Krystal and I live in Kansas City my WOF. I to have had a problem with people dropping off stuff and trash day or for bulk pickup. But my problem is that its not even bulk pickup. Some jerk just dropped some stuff off. And I know that in Kansas City you only get 2 trash bags, but someone is putting there trash bags out in my yard, when I already have 2. I know that its not my neighbors being that I live on a block with family. So someone is just driving by doing this!!!

No we are booked up. We have you next month. No I said I have all the information you gave me. Date, etc. Well you will have to wait till next month. Click….

Yeah the schedule a pickup is a joke – basically they just abandoned bulk pickup. Months ago when I read they were switching to a scheduled service I was not sure what to make of it. Now that I tried to schedule my first pickup and was told the FIRST available date is over 2 months away I couldn’t believe it, what a joke.
