Kansas City Bulk Trash Pick Up Changes...Make an Appointment

Wednesday July 30, 2008
As I've posted before, I'm never really sure when bulk trash pick-up is in my neighborhood and have pretty much chalked it up to an urban myth. After so many years, I finally figured it out and today I get a postcard from the Public Works Department telling me as of September 1st, 2008 bulk item pickup witll changed to an appointment only Appointment only?

I guess too many people missed bulk pick up day to make it worthwhile, although I do see a heck of a lot of bulk set out on the curb around bulk trash pick up day.

Call 3-1-1 (I love 311!) 48 hours in advance to get your stuff picked up.

Don’t be fooled by the 48 hours. I called today (September 19th) and my items will not be picked up until October 9th! It is based on your trash day and they will only pick up bulky items on the 2nd trash day of the month for your location.

Wow, they gave you almost a month. I called on today (June 1) and they won’t pick it up until August 11. then the rep on the phone told me that I might get ticketed because the stuff is on the curb so long. To add to that, my house was foreclosed (stupid landlord) and now the bank is considering NOT honoring the arrangements made because of the stuff sitting on the curb waiting for bulk pickup!!

I have tried to call but i am getting a busy signal for the 17th time. This is not acceptable!!!! The city needs to do something where is the money going for the trash pickup.
