Jimmy the Chimp Dies at the KC Zoo...

If you've been to the KC Zoo since 1968, you're sure to have seen Jimmy the Chimp. Sadly, dear old Jimmy passed away this morning--he was 41.

According to the Zoo press release, Jimmy was wild caught in Liberia and had been at the zoo since 1968 and was the Alpha male until a few years ago. Until Jimmy's death, the KC Zoo had the largest chimp exhibit in the US (who knew that?).

There will be a memorial fund established in Jimmy's name to continue chimp conservation, you may donate at www.kansascityzoo.org .
