Our thoughts and prayers extend to Jimmy, the entire JJ's family, and all those affected by the horrible events that transpired yesterday.
I have told this story to those closest to me, but thought it would be fitting to share. One of my favorite memories as a young girl was being at JJ's, which was then Don Pepe's. My dad would hunt pheasants or quail all day and we'd drive down the alley and drop them in the backdoor of the kitchen. Pepe would cook them for us, and he'd make me flaming desserts, a wonder for a three or four year old..or any age. We as a community are saddened and shocked by the tragedy of JJ's . We praying for all involved, and, as Kansas Citians, cherish all the memories we've all had there.
While the KC Restaurant community is rallying around JJ's employees, even setting up a fund via indiegogo to help.
A 'Friends of JJ's' benefit has been planned for March 5th at the Uptown. More details to follow.
