Rock Port, Missouri is First Town in US Powered Solely by Wind

Tuesday July 15, 2008
I came across an interesting article this evening while scouring the internets and wow (!) I haven't heard anything about it on the local news, so I think we'll call it our 'About KC Breaking News at 9pm' .

The small town of Rock Port, Missouri is now the first US town to by solely powered by wind.

Besides supplying residents of Rock Port with clean energy, the article by livescience.com also states that:

'the turbines have another benefit... MU Extension specialists said that the Missouri wind farms will bring in more than $1.1 million annually in county real estate taxes, to be paid by Wind Capital Group, a wind energy developer based in St. Louis.'

Maybe they can send some cheap energy our way... those who use Rock Port utilities will have no increase in rates for 15-20 years.
