One of the best events summer events in Kansas City just happens to be the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival. The fest, which is now in its 16th season, is held at the beautiful Southmoreland Park, just west of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and south of the KC Art Institute. The event is free and is a great event to take the whole family or meet friends for a great evening of Shakespeare.

What: Heart of America Shakespeare Festival
2009 Shakespeare Production: 'The Merry Wives of Windsor'
Where: Southmoreland Park, 47th and Oak
When: June 16th-July 5th, (closed: June 22 and July 4)
Cost: Free, although reserved seating is available.
Showtimes: Gates open at 6pm, Showtalk at 7pm and the show begins at 8pm. The show lasts approximately 2.5 hours.
Food and Beverages: Food and drink (including wine) is available for purchase. You may bring your own picnic, order boxed gourmet dinners to pick up prior to performance, or enjoy the VIP buffet. All food provided by Brio Tuscan Grille. Call 816.531.7728 for details.
