American Royal

American Royal :

Kansas City's American Royal first began in 1899 in the West Bottoms Stockyards as a Hereford show and has grown to be one of the biggest livestock and horseshows in the United States. One of the longest running traditions in Kansas City, the American Royal is held from October through November and includes horse shows, livestock competitions, rodeos, concerts and of course, our World Famous BBQ competition (and infamous party!).

The American Royal kicks off in 2008 with it's 83rd Annual parade. Landon and Sarah Rowland marshall the parade which begins at Pershing and Grand and ends at 14th and Mail at the P&L.

Where:

The American Royal is held at Kemper Arena (1800 Genessee Kansas City, MO 64102) and the adjacent Hale Arena/Governor's Expo Center.

Horse Shows:

The American Royal is home to horse events throughout the entire event. From Arabian, Quarter, and Saddlehorse competitons and shows to Cutting, Jumping, and Hunting competitons--they truly are amazing to watch. Go to the American Royal's Websitefor complete schedule.

Rodeo :

One of the most exciting events of the Royal are the rip riding rodeos!

• Ranch Women's Rodeo, October 26th and 27th

Concerts :

Concerts are held throughout the American Royal Celebration. The 2008 Barbecuelooza (October 3rd and 4th) headliners are Cody Blackall, Jessica Horn Band, and the John Joiner Band. Tickets may be purchased online at Ticketmaster through the AR Website.
