American Royal

American Royal :
Kansas City's American Royal first began in 1899 in the West Bottoms Stockyards as a Hereford show and has grown to be one of the biggest livestock and horseshows in the United States. One of the longest running traditions in Kansas City, the American Royal is held from October through November and includes horse shows, livestock competitions, rodeos, concerts and of course, our World Famous BBQ competition (and infamous party!).

Where:
The American Royal is held at Kemper Arena (1800 Genessee Kansas City, MO 64102) and the adjacent Hale Arena and Governor's Expo Center.

American Royal BBQ : Kansas City is famous for it's que--but the American Royal BBQ contest is one of the biggest bbq competitons in the nation. Horse Shows:
The American Royal is home to horse events throughout the entire event. From Arabian, Quarter, and Saddlehorse competitons and shows to Cutting, Jumping, and Hunting competitons--they truly are amazing to watch. Go to American Royal's Websitefor complete schedule.

Rodeo : One of the most exciting events of the Royal are the rip riding rodeos!

Concerts :
Concerts are held throughout the American Royal Celebration. The 2007 Barbecuelooza (October 6th) headliners are Cross Canadian Ragweed, Candy Coburn and Mickey and the Motorcars. Tickets may be purchased online at Ticketmaster through the AR Website.
