In the early days, some members of the Kansas City St. Andrews Society thought it would be a great idea to do a bit of clan gathering and started the Highland Games. It came and went due to financial strains, and was reborn around 1968. The games fizzled until it's full rebirth in 1977...and has been going strong ever since. Where: In the mid 90's, due to the ever popular Braveheart "FRREEDOM!" days, the games peaked in attendance with over 10,000, making it one of the largest in the country. The Highland Games location has changed to its new home at E.H. Young Riverfront Park in Riverside, Missouri. The park is at the intersection of I-635 and 69 Highway in the Northland on the East side of Argosy Casino. For a complete listing of clan participants, or if you wish, register your clan through the Kansas City Scottish Highland Games official site.
