Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit Union Station

By , About.com Guide

The Dead Sea Scrolls :

Considered by many to be the most important architectural discovery of modern times, the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in caves by Bedouin shepherds in the late 1940's. Over the next few decades, scientists uncovered over 800 papyrus and parchment fragments with ancient text in caves on the shores of the Dead Sea.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are fragments of some of the oldest surviving manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible--otherwise known as the Old Testament in Christian terms. The mystery of the parchments that were created over 2,000 years ago are explained and documented in the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit.
