You'll find that there are hundreds of Summer camps and programs offered in the Kansas City Metro and surrounding areas. From cooking and sports to theater and art, you can find something for every age, interest, and budget. Consider this guide a jumping off point, and while we know we haven't listed every single camp in the metro area--please feel free to shoot us an email with your faves or throw a post in the user answers.

Have a budding actor, singer, or dancer in your family? Theater of the Imagination offers one of the best camps in the city for children who belong on the stage. With summer programs offered for ages Pre-K to 6th and 4th to 10th, your kids will love their themed camps with everything from Superhero's and Pop Star Diva's to High School Musical. You'll find TI to be laid back (no try-outs and everyone has a part) and quite affordable. Offers mornings, afternoons, or both.

The Kansas City Art Institute offers a huge array of art classes throughout the summer at both their Northland (Briarcliff) and Main Campus (44th and Warwick) for children ages 6-15. You'll find both morning and afternoon classes that include such things as art and nature drawing, painting, clay, and much more--they'll have the opportunity to create and imagine.

Shining Stars Catering Summer Culinary Camps:

Shining Stars Catering gives children the opportunity to flex their culinary muscles with their fun and fabulous Summer Culinary Camps. Offered for children aged Pre-K to Middle School, they'll enjoy an array of food themed camps (thinking baking, dinner party, breakfast) and start at $45. Classes are held Tuesday-Thursday throughout July at the Tiffany Greens Golf Club.

Christian Youth Theater's CYT Summer Camps are offered from those aged 4-14 and are held at locations throughout the metro. With age appropriate themes (think Dora and Diego, Disney on Broadway) CYT offers full and half day programs as well as overnight camps for older kids.
