Where to Dine Outside on the Country Club Plaza

Dine al fresco on a Plaza patio

Mary Anne McNeish Sharp
Kansas City's famed Country Club Plaza houses over 15 blocks of fabulous stores, amazing restaurants, swanky bars, and hundreds of those famous fountains. From perfect patios and romantic balconies to dining streetside, see our top picks of great places to dine outdoors on the Plaza.

Classic Cup Cafe

301 W. 47th Street, Kansas City
816-753-1840

The Classic Cup, located in the heart of the Country Club Plaza, is one of our favorite outdoor eating spots in Kansas City. With a huge outdoor patio and sidewalk seating, the Classic Cup will make you feel as though you're dining al fresco somewhere in Europe. With an extensive wine list, great brunch, lunch (Thai Chicken Pizza, Gnocchi, Salad with Herb Roasted Salmon), and dinner (Kobe Burger, Bordeaux Duck), you can't beat dining outdoors at the Classic Cup.

Baja 600
www.baja600ontheplaza.com
600 Ward Pkwy, Kansas City
816-931-6600

Baja's delicious Mexican fare is coupled with a charming courtyard patio, and it is here on most warm, sunny afternoons you'll likely find all diners outside instead of in. Overlooking Ward Parkway and Brush Creek, Baja's patio has ample shade and just enough sun to soak up some rays with a cold margarita. Guide Tip: Don't take a table on the north side on a steamy, hot Kansas City day because you'll find it most unenjoyable compared to your umbrella covered counterparts.

Cheesecake Factory
www.thecheesecakefactory.com
4701 Wyandotte St., Kansas City
816-960-1919

The Cheesecake Factory's huge courtyard is home to the famed Fountain of Bacchus and is the Plaza's largest outdoor dining spot. There is plenty of room on the Cheesecake's streetside patio, so you won't feel like you're infringing on your neighbors conversation. From beautiful spring days to warm summer evenings, you'll usually be waitlisted to dine at this beautiful patio, but you'll find it's well worth it.

Re:Verse
www.reversekc.com
618 Ward Parkway, Kansas City
816-931-7811

When the weather turns warm, the Plaza's hip eatery (and posh cocktail spot) opens up their floor to ceiling windows to offer an open air drinking and dining experience like no other. To top it off, Re:Verse has table top service on the sidewalks of Ward Parkway, which is perfect for watching passerby and for lunches that somehow turn into dinner. Their menu includes breakfast, lunch and dinner and has everything from pastas to pitas. Who can beat their small plates (with favorites like Phyllo Baked Brie and Fondue Artichoke Dip) and their extensive list of fun cocktails. Don't miss: The famous Re:Verse Caipirinha and the Flirtini.

Figlio
209 W. 46th Terrace, Kansas City
816.561.0505

Figlio's wonderfully romantic second story balcony offers diners a birds eye view of JC Nichols Parkway and overlooks Kansas City's infamous JC Nichols Memorial 'Horse' Fountain. You'll feel like you're eating somewhere in Florence with Figlio's awarding winning dishes which include everything from wood-fired pizzas and delicious pastas, to antipasto, frittata's, and desserts.
