When it comes to romance, Kansas City has some of the top romantic spots on the planet. From quaint French Bistros and those with old world charm to those with the best views of the city skyline--here are the Top 10 Romantic Restaurants in Kansas City.

1. Le Fou Frog

This charming French bistro-located on the edge of downtown's river market has us screaming oh-la-la. Small tables, dining by candlelight--the Fou Frog exudes French cool and is the best place in the city for a tres romantic evening. With an ever changing menu and an attentive waitstaff willing to offer up recommendations, you could never go wrong by going to the Frog. Chef-owner Mano Rafael and his wife Barbara truly have a gem--and it's guaranteed that you'll find Rafael in the back cooking up something magnificent.

What I order every time:
Escargots
Steak au Poivre

2. Piropos

Although Piropos moved from it's beautiful Parkville location to Briarcliff Village--one thing is for sure, it didn't lose any of it's romance. This Argentinean restaurant has beautiful views overlooking the city, high ceilings and ambiance that surely oozes romance. Armed with a to-die-for menu and a highly trained waitstaff--you are sure to have a wonderfully romantic evening at Piropos.

What I loved:
The delicious Lomo a la Pimienta con Papas a La Crema (8ox. to die for filet in brandy creme sauce)

3. The Shields Manor Bistro

Situated on Platte City's Main Street in a restored 1850's home, the Shields Manor Bistro stakes their claim as one of KC's most romantic restaurants. Owners De De and Max Shields cater to your every need while enjoying fine wines and amazing food (all served by a white gloved waitstaff). With only a handful of candle-lit tables--the ambiance screams romance. Added bonus: once you reserve a table, it's yours for the evening.

Don't Miss The Blue Cheese Shrimp appetizer and their desserts (all made by Max himself)

4. bluestem

Not only was Bluestem's owner and chef Colby Garrelts named 'Food and Wine's 'Top New Chef' in 2005, but his wife Megan just happens to be a world class pastry chef. Culinary feats aside, Bluestem--with it's intimate feel, perfect lighting and saucy wine lounge make it one of the top romantic spots in Kansas City. Hit the wine lounge and enjoy a drink before dinner-where you'll feel like you're the only couple in the world.

While the menu changes frequently, I loved:

5. Californos

This famed Westport restaurant is a favorite romantic spot of many Kansas Citians. With it's dark wood decor, warm and inviting fireplace and views of passerby--Californos is a spot full of romance. The multi-layers offer cozy canooks for private and romantic dinners--and with an extensive wine list, Californos is perfect for wining and dining.

6. Raphael

Nestled in the ground level of the beautiful Raphael Hotel, the Raphael restaurant has charm, elegance and an old world feel. Located on the corner of Ward Parkway and Wornell, the Raphael offers special views of the famed Country Club Plaza like no other. Quiet and dark with a pianist playing faintly in the back ground--the Raphael has been a Kansas City romance spot for decades.

Walking into Brookside's Aixois, you might get the feeling you've walked into a restaurant somewhere in Paris. Thie quaint french bistro, located in the Shops at Crestwood isromantic dining at it's finest. With huge windows overlooking Brookside Boulevard and the Trolly Trail--chef owner Emmanual Langlade serves up a delicious French cusine which includes everything from frog legs and duck to crepes.

Hi atop the Hyatt is Kansas City's infamous Sky's. This romantic revolving rooftop restaurant the slowly but surely offers you a 360 view of Kansas City's bea beautiful skyline, and what could be more romantic.
