Kansas City Mavericks Hockey

Faceoff in Independence

Kansas City has always had a love affair with hockey. The NHL Kansas City Scouts hit the ice at Kemper Arena from 1974-1976, and the IHL's Kansas City Blades made a repeat performance at the same arena from 1992-2001. Sold out NHL exhibition games and rumors that an NHL franchise would play at the Sprint Center left Kansas City hockey fans hoping for a comeback, and left them thirsty for the slapshot.

It's been over eight years since a pro team has played the lines in Kansas City, and in November of 2009 the Kansas City Mavericks will face off in the 5,800 seat Independence Events Center, and Kansas City hockey fans couldn't be happier.
