Kansas City Wizards Soccer

By Mary Anne McNeish-Sharp, About.com

The Kansas City Wizards soccer team is part of the Major League Soccer system and celebrated their inaugural season in 1996. The Wizards were first owned by Lamar Hunt who also owned the Kansas City Chiefs and are now owned by Cerner founder, Neal Patterson who bought the team in 2006.

The Wizards begin their 2008 season at Community America Ballpark after 11 seasons at Arrowhead. The temporary move is due to the fact that the Wizards are currently seeking a new stadium, one that is specifically for soccer only purposes. As of press time, a specific location has not been determined, although rumors of a stadium in the Bannister Mall Area, southern Johnson County and Overland Park have all surfaced.
