Art in Columbus Park

By Mary Anne McNeish-Sharp, About.com

Art in Columbus Park :
What began as a bunch of Kansas City artists collaborating their works and celebrating what is probably the most ethnically diverse section of town, Art in Columbus Park is trying to establish itself as a major monthly art event in the metro. Currently, the AICP consists of 5 community galleries and numerous restaurants that participate in the monthly crawl.
Where is Columbus Park :
Located in a historical neighborhood just East of the City Market, Art in Columbus Park is located just 9 blocks East of the River Market at 1020 E. Missouri. You can get there by I-35 on the East or head through downtown and go through the River Market from the West. If you're coming from the Northland-get there via either the Broadway or Paseo Bridges. For a map and complete directions to Columbus Park, visit the AICP.
When:
Third Friday of every month, April through December from 6-10pm
Galleries :
Art in Columbus Park has five galleries, each are small and not exactly fancy, but they display works of emerging artists. They include:
  • AICP Gallery, 1020 Missouri
  • 525 Gallery, 525 Gillis
  • Belini Gallery, 1033 5th Street
  • Keith Soforic Gallery, 525 Garrison
  • Speed and Holder Gallery, 1000 Pacific
The AICP :
AICP provides complimentary wine and beer as well as hors d'oeuvres throughout the gallery crawl. The AICP requests you make a tax-deductible $5 donation to help their organization and keep Art in Columbus Park going strong.
